The Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) is a national, professional, non-profit making society registered under the Societies Registration Act of 1860. The mission of society is formulating and implementing responsibilities and objectives of technical education. The major objectives of ISTE are to develop top quality professional engineers & technicians needed by the industries and other organizations. It is the only national organization of educators in the field of engineering and technology. At present, ISTE has a very large and an effective membership base consisting of more than 1,02,985 Life Members, 5,54,094 Student Members, 2410 Institutional Members (including IITs, IISc.., NITs and other leading technical institutions), 1214 Faculty Chapters and 1322 Students Chapters and 17 Sections throughout the country.
Government Polytechnic, Washim is an Institutional member of Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) since from 1992, also in year 2004 institute has established and actively running two local chapters one is ISTE Chapter (MH-144) for faculties and other on for students ISTE Student Chapter (MH-104).
Under institute’s ISTE chapters numerous activities planned and conducted all over the year, like FDP/STTP training program for faculties, training programs/workshops for the students, technical competitions for students, industrial expert lectures/seminar for students, sponsoring students for participating technical events like paper presentation, quiz, and project exhibitions etc.
In ISTE Student chapter every year during odd academic semester, on the occasion of engineers day annual technical event organize in the institute under which technical competitions like technical paper presentations, quiz, poster presentation, innovative project, elocution, debate and model competitions are organized in which the student community actively participate in all these ISTE activities. These activities provide a common platform for students to exhibit the talent which helps in their career development.
