To develop world class technicians & practicing civil engineers who shall possess & create knowledge capital &
also become job creators for economic, infrastructural, social ,cultural & sustainable development.
Mission of the Civil Engineering Department:
- To train students for professional careers at technician level in civil engineering in the global community.
- To inculcate the passion for lifelong learning & continuous development in the profession.
- To have a progressive curriculum highlighting basic engineering principles & fundamentals, practical applications, communication skills, critical thinking, teamwork, sustainability & moral values.
PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES (PEOs)
- Diploma graduates will establish themselves as professionals actively engaging in problem solving to address the need of the society.
- Diploma graduates will progress in their civil engineering careers or other chosen profession and /or engage in advanced studies in civil engineering or other related fields.
- Diploma graduates will pursue lifelong learning & will establish themselves the leaders both in their chosen profession & in other activities and act professionally & ethically while making decisions fulfilling the social, cultural & sustainability requirements.
PROGRAM SPECIFIC OUTCOMES (PSOs)
Civil engineering diploma holders will be able to –
- Function as junior engineer/Sectional engineer/supervisor in construction/railway/environmental /soil foundation/structural /water resources/transportation engineering/remote sensing/surveying & in management & software development field.
- Provide ethical & sustainable solutions of civil engineering problems to the society.
Information of the Department
- Established in 1982 with an intake of 60.
- This department has well qualified faculty & well equipped laboratories.
- The faculty is engaged in improving the quality of education as well as enhancing the skills in the students to suit the requirements of present construction industry. The teaching & learning is carried out with modern teaching aids,technical visits. Also various lectures are arranged frequently by experts from industry.
- Overall development of students is achieved through involvement of them in various State Level Competitions / seminars & Sports activities.
- Department is engaged in Third Party Audit (TPA) of Civil Works carried out by Municipal Council of Washim,Risod,Karanja & Mangrulpir.
- Department is also extending facility of Testing of Construction Materials to various civil works.
- Generated a revenue of more than Rs.25 Lacs through TPA
After completion of this diploma, students may be recruited as site Engineers, Junior Engineers, Trainee Engineers in various organizations such as Municipal Corporation, MAHAGENCO, Irrigation department, PWD, NTPC, L&T, Railways, Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran etc.
Govt. of Maharashtra provides the diploma holders of Civil Engineering an opportunity to undertake a contract up to an amount of Rs. 15 Lakes setting aside Security Deposit and Earnest money. This course is best suited for students who have definite entrepreneurship skills and aptitude.
