Welcome to the Department of Automobile Engineering at GP Washim. Department started its journey in the year of 1996. Over the last two decades, we have been working for bringing up competent diploma engineers. It gives me immense pleasure to lead the department of Automobile Engineering. Department is committed and striving hard towards the goal of providing innovative and quality education with high standard to achieve academic excellence targeting overall transformation of our students. The very motto of our department is to provide quality education. The process of learning is extremely important in life. What you learn, how you learn and where you learn play a crucial role in developing ones intellectual capability, besides career. We are confident that our Engineers will emerge as assets not only to this institution and to the organization they belong, but also to the country at large. PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES (PEOs) 1. PROGRAM SPECIFIC OUTCOMES (PSOs)

The automotive maintenance and repair- Ability to execute logical diagnostic procedures and effective repair methods targeting set quality benchmark and timeliness.
Automotive tools and Equipments Proficiency- Demonstrate proficiency in the use of automotive shop tools, diagnostic tools and equipment to analyze, diagnose and repair vehicle systems as per requirement.

Information of the Department

The Government Polytechnic Washim offers the Diploma course in Automobile Engineering(DAE) established in year 1996 in the respected institution. The automobile engineering department of this institution accomplished with high qualified teaching faculty and well technically qualified instructor. This department places strong emphasis on theoretically & practically exposure to the modern industry activity which is essential to comprehend this discipline. The automobile students are coming out with good results & well employed.
Department emphasizes more on soft skill & overall development. Common practice of like interaction with parents and alumni, extensive use of audio visual and teaching aid sin learning, organization of regular technical events for student, encouragement & guidance for participation in different events, inviting various experts for sharing knowledge and experiences, frequent industrial/workshop visits, more focus on staffs upgrading skills &knowledge by attaining necessary workshop and trainings. Department library, teaching materials, continuous updating skills of department staff is a continuous process.
Department has MOUs with various industry and organizations fulfilling purposes like expert lecture/workshop, visits, trainings, entrepreneurship awareness and skill development.
Department has good campus placement record.
The automobile department has well equipped laboratories such as automobile engine lab, automobile system lab, heat power engineering lab, automobile workshop, vehicle maintenance lab, automobile electrical electronics lab. Apart of this the automobile department has separate computer lab to teach computer fundamentals, engineering graphics (AutoCAD), CAD and solid modelling etc.
The automobile department has wheel balancing machine, engine diagnostic center, diesel fuel injection pump calibration & testing machine, auto electric tutor, exhaust gas analyzer, smoke meter, distributor less ignition system model, antilock breaking system, CAN/LIN Bus tutor, single cylinder & multi cylinder engine test rig, car chassis model, cut section models of engine and automobile system, four wheeler and two wheeler for students to undergo practical and enhance their practical knowledge.

About Diploma in Automobile Engineering Course:
Diploma Automobile Engineering (DAE) is a 3 years/6 Semester programme approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and affiliated to Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education (MSBTE), Mumbai. The intake of automobile discipline for students is 60.The students intend to take admission to first year DAE course should pass SSC or equivalent. Also he/she can take admission direct second year DAE should pass either HSC(Science)/HSC(Technical)/MCVC/ITI/COE two years after SSC certificate more details available on DTE Maharashtra portal. Scope/ Career for Diploma Automobile Engineers.

The students after completion of course can take lateral entry admission to direct second year BE/B.Tech Mechanical/Automobile Engineering.
The students are employed in state government as vehicle inspector in RTO Department, MSRTC, maintenance Engineer of vehicle in PWD, Police & ZP departments etc.
The students are employed in central government ONGC as transport officer, Defence in Indian Army and Defence research & Development Organization (DRDO)as Technical Assistant, Railways, Aeronautical, vehicle insurance surveyor & loss assessor in GIS etc.
Automotive Company like L&T, Bajaj, TATA Motors, Mahindra, GM and many recruit fresh diploma students as Diploma Engineer Trainee (DET).
Students are employed in automotive finance sector, automotive workshop/service stations.
Students are self-employed by opening own service stations etc.
